Conspiracy for Fat America & High-Fructose Corn Syrup

The connection between high fructose corn and obesity, fast food, Coke, Pepsi & diabetes.

  1. I'm not sure exactly how to break this to you, but fructose is fructose, a naturally-occurring sugar, whether it comes from corn or some other fruit or vegetable. Your body can't tell the difference between corn fructose and any other kind. Corn fructose originated in the 1970s because food processors were trying to reduce use of sucrose (the sugar from cane and sugar beets), since people said THAT was bad. So now we blame corn.

The problem in America is that we all eat too much, and probably too much sugar (of whatever kind). We're the first society in history to have fat poor people (in most times and places, poor people can't afford to buy enough food to get fat). So if you want to cast blame for all the obesity, try looking in the mirror. Oh, and eat more salads and stop patronizing fast food restaurants. Just my opinion, of course...
